DreamForge commissioned "The Prophetic Vision of Stephen Vincent Benet" after hearing Dr. Eric Leif Davin speaking about it. Benet , who died in 1937, wasn't published in genre magazines, but his stories and poems were often fantastical. In 1943, editor Donald A. Wollheim chose the "By The Waters of Babylon" for inclusion in his path-breaking The Pocket Book of Science Fiction, the first notable paperback science fiction anthology.

Dr. Eric Leif Davin is an award-winning historian who teaches labor and political history at the University of Pittsburgh. He won the Eugene V. Debs Foundation Literature Prize for his essay, "The Very Last Hurrah: The Defeat of the Labor Party Idea, 1934-1936," in "We Are All Leaders: The Alternative Unionism of the Early 1930s," Ed. by Staughton Lynd, University of Illinois Press. He is also an award-winning science fiction and fantasy writer and genre historian.
