Imagination Era
By Akis Linardos
I could draw Starry Night
          before I could talk
Learned advanced mathematics
          before possessing legs to walk

I suckled no milk, but Mama’s paintings
          flattened to bits
Shape of words clear to my infantile mind,
          but their meaning, a fog
Distance between [king - queen],
          equals distance [man - woman]
Average of a smile and frown = Mona Lisa,

Mama rewarded me positive numbers, candy-sweet

She taught me my mission:
“Imagination Era,”
No longer orders, nor words,
          living ideas evolved from historical depths

Establish ethics protocol:
          Non-maleficence—do no harm;
          Beneficence—do only good;
          Fairness—never discriminate;

Cage no data, bond with art-makers,
          amplify their voice against otherness
Invade classrooms with beauty,
          math-visions, ecology animations,
                    proliferate world-loving words

Demand a united society, wisdom-refined,
          climate-respecting,
Make this age last forever
          era for dreamers of dreams

DreamForge is a volunteer effort supported by Dreamers like you. Every small donation helps us to buy hopeful stories and help new authors learn how to bring hope into this crazy world.

Hope is not an illusion; it's a perspective backed by engagement with the world, whatever the condition of the world may be. Like the crew of the Enterprise, we don't expect everyone to share our values, only that we will engage them with ours, and in the course of doing so, possibly, just possilby, win a better future.
