That which separates us from the world and from one another is sovereign, and all the little inroads and personal connections we make otherwise are outlaw against the nature of the universe itself. A universe which is vast and indifferent, as boundless in time as in any physical dimension, and against which even the deities are as children. The world of Sovereign Ice takes place on a far future Earth, on a world which has been transformed by tragic circumstance into one whose cultures, concepts, and natural laws we would not recognize today. As the story opens, a mysterious narrator introduces us to a world more than a thousand years after “The Great Change,” when the Earth is trapped in the grip of ice and magic. He introduces us to Skye and Erok, a metal giant and an equally proportioned saber tooth tiger. Emerging for the first time from their mountain sanctuary, the incredible pair become lost amid glacial ice and snowstorms. At glacier’s end, the two find themselves joining forces with a vanguard of crimson clad soldiers. These are troopers of the Ayelsford Republic, traveling north to make contact with native peoples and to seek out a feared and respected power of the region known as: Nenquin, the Frost Queen.
